As an extension of the classroom, that athletic program of Providence Classical Christian Schoolis designed to move our students in the direction they should be going: toward the likness of Christ. "For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to Him should become like His son." (Romans 8:29) This means instilling each athlete with the Spirit of Christ in everything we say and do: "When the spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control... (Galatians 5: 22-23).
Providence Classical Christian School recognizes that God has gifted students in various ways. We want to provide an opportunity for these students to devlop and use their God-given abilities. We also believe that athletic and extra-curricular activities enhance the atmosphere of the school's student body by providing students and parents an opportunity to express a positive school spirit.
"Training in Excellence to the Glory of God"
Providence competes in the GICAA in the sport of cross country. The first season of cross country in the GICAA was in the fall of 2013.
Providence has two different teams. The first includes our Logic and Rhetoric School made up of 7th-12 graders. Runners start conditioning in August and Providence hosts cross country meets on their beautiful grounds. The second team is a runners club. This consists of 2nd-6th graders running 1 mile. We are thrilled to be able to host them and condition with them as they prep for one day becoming part of the larger team. Cross country at Providence allows 30-35 students the opportunity to run and exercise.
2016 Cross Country Girls Hope Ferguson placed in State and the Junior Cross Country runners Boys won at State. Congratulations!
